Sometimes when you know something but you hear it again you say to yourself, “Wow, that
felt great to hear that!” That’s how I felt when I listened to this album. Its like a favorite food
that you havent had in a long time and when you finally have it again you really enjoy it!
Renewed and revived would be the best way to describe the feeling I felt with this album.
Lyrically, I can’t pick a favorite song because each song had a different message while still
keeping “the message.” Having said that I can't pick a favorite song, but "I Cant Deny",
really made me think. How could anyone or why would anyone even want to deny Christ?!

Being accomplished musicians individually only seemed to make this new group even
better then they ever imagined. Jason, Chris and Collin were brought together and they
formed the group 33Miles. Their name represents the ministry and life of Jesus. “He was a
friend to the friendless, He loved the unlovable and He gave of Himself selflessly by dying
on the cross in our place so that we could live forever,” Jason explains. “We want to follow
Christ. We want our ‘Miles’ to have purpose and meaning and to make a difference for the
Kingdom of God.  We aren't promised a certain number of miles, so what are we going to
do with the "Miles" that we are given?”

Through their lyrics, they hope to encourage the church. “We just want to love on God’s
people,” the group said. “Just because you are a Christian, doesn’t mean you live a
perfect life. There are plenty of hurts. If we can come into a church and encourage them,
build them up, edify them, and get them to a place where they are excited about what God’
s going to do in their life, then we feel like we’ve accomplished our purpose.”

[Additional Review by: Jay Heilman]

Since Stacey Papanikos was the one that was assigned to write the
review for 33Miles debut, I hadn't heard anything from the band on
the exception of the single, "What Could Be Better (Better Days
Ahead)", which was played over and over again on the radio.  When I
received the pre-release for their second album,
One Life (2008) in
the mail, I went back and listened to this album and started to listen, I
was thinking to myself, "Why hadn't I sat down and listened to this
before now?"  I was blown away!  The only thing that I really knew
about 33Miles was that a lot of people compared them to country-pop
trio, Rascal Flatts.  I don't listen to country, so I couldn't see the
comparison.  I see it a bit now, but while the members of both bands
proclaim Christ, only one actually bills themselves as a Christian
artist.  Some of the songs that really struck me on this debut would
first off have to be the song, "There Is A God".  This is an amazing
song!  I assume this was a radio song although I don't ever
remember hearing it, but our local Christian radio stations have a
habit of missing those 'diamonds in the rough' (ex. John Waller), so I
didn't think much about it.  I also enjoyed "Thank You", which I do
remember hearing on radio and the cover of Brad Paisley's "When I
Get Where I'm Going".  All in all, this record was amazing.  Too bad it
took me over a year to go back and listen!
