OVERALL
In the late 90’s grunge rock became very popular in the Christian music industry with such bands as DC Talk, Newsboys, and Audio Adrenaline.  All-Star
United came onto the scene with their “Smash Hit” on the Self Titled Album put out by Reunion Records.  They then changed their style going
International and after some fine tuning became more of a “pop rock” band expanding their horizons.  After a few more albums, a Grammy Nomination,
success in the Christian music industry, and over 1000 live appearances, Ian Eskelin went solo on InPop records.  All-Star is back as Ian Eskelin states
the following, “This band is a creative outlet that I absolutely crave. Making an All-Star project is an excuse to reunite with friends around the globe and
make some noise together, something exciting that doesn’t have a lot of rules.”  I would say the album is far from noise but definitely leaves the listener
with something more to be desired.  This is your average band but a must buy for fans of the past or Ian Eskelin’s solo material.  There are moments on
the album such as the song “Take Me Away” where it would seem that All-Star United speaks from deep within the soul yet overall the album lyrically is
bluntly Christian but rather cheesy and the album becomes monotonous.
