album. In today’s Christian rock music, it’s very rare that an album will have a great message and rock at the same time! So, if you like the Southern rock and a meaningful message, then you will definitely want to take 45 minutes or so to sit down and listen through!

I have started to write this album review several times, but had not truly gotten the time to
sit down and complete it. Better late the never huh? Well, for those of you who are not
familiar with DecembeRadio, here is the lowdown on the southern-rock style quartet from
Blacksburg, VA. The group comprises of Josh Reedy on lead vocals and bass guitar, Eric
Miker on rhythm guitar, Brian Bunn on Lead Guitars and BGV and Boone Daughdrill on the
drums. Christian Music Review had the opportunity to check these guys out live in
concert, and even hang out and talk with them afterwards. They are just as lively on stage
as they are on the record …
The album’s first track, “Can’t Hide”, talks about just that. We face problems daily and
often stray from God. As believers we all end up turning back to God sometime or
another. The chorus of the song sums it up as it says “You can’t hide from your
Creator/You can’t run from your Maker/You’ll need Him sooner or later/You can’t hide from
your Creator.” We have to realize that leaving God out of the equation is not the smartest
thing to do. We must fully trust He has our best interest in mind. I love the message of
“Dangerous”, to be set with the knowledge of God, to be dangerous, an interesting view of
equipping oneself with the Gospel. Start clapping your hands, cause you’ll have the urge
to once you start hearing “Love Found Me”. These are the kind of songs that make me
think of the Black Crowes.
It’s very evident that the group is influenced musically by these groups. The song that first
caught my attention with listening through the first time on the album, is “Drifter”. A song
that makes you think of the Prodigal Son. No matter where we are in life, the Lord is
always there waiting for us, when we’ve broken down and returned. “I’m a drifter out on
dead-end road/Trying to find my way back home to get you/Oh, to get to You/Lord I’ve
been gone for far too long/Headed to places I don’t belong/And I’ve got to get back home
to You” The chorus says a lot and could make someone think, is this me? Have strayed
from God and His plan? Do I need to get back home? A little Living Colour anyone? Well,
that’s the first thing I thought of when I heard the track, “Live & Breathe”. You 80’s
mainstream music fans may remember that song “Cult of Personality”. Only “Live &
Breathe” has a much more meaningful and non-political message to it, not to mention
displaying the great guitar solos of Brian Bunn. The message behind the song really
spoke out to me. It really challenged me. Am I living and serving God as much as He
blesses me? Sadly, I could not say that. I could never truly feel that my work and my life
display this, but the message of “Live & Breathe” gave me hope, and made me realize
there were others out there that felt like that too.
