Main Review DecembeRadio continues to be one of the driving forces in Christian rock with their immensely popular studio albums and of course their powerhouse and infectious live shows. I have been fortunate enough to be able to spend a lot of time with these guys out on the road at shows and though they “rock it out” on stage, they are probably one of the most humble and hard working groups you’ll ever meet. With a fire for ministry and a desire to reach and encourage the lost through their music, the group continues to pick up new fans with every show they play. And the accolades keep coming in too. Since their 2006 self-titled debut, DecembeRadio has quickly become a favorite on the awards scene too, racking up a Grammy nomination in 2007, and winning Dove Awards for “Best Rock Album” in 2007 and 2009.
Playing over 150 shows per year, the guys of DecembeRadio stay pretty busy too. So what better time than now would there be for this band known for their electrified stage set to release a live album? Well March 23, 2010 if you want to know the exact date.
Compiling live versions of songs performed at three concerts (Rock the River in St. Paul, MN; Knoxville, TN & Quad Cities, IA) from their 2009 “Love Can Tour”, the DVD includes the cuts: “Believer”, “Love Found Me”, “Better Man”, “Find You Waiting”, “Powerful Thing”, “Live And Breathe”, “Satisfy Me”, “Drifter”, “Love Can”, “Be Alright” & “Gasoline”, this release is the only thing that even remotely compares to being at a concert yourself.
Extras on the DVD include some behind the scenes footage and camaraderie from the road; “Look For Me” music video & the never-before-seen “Gasoline” music video and more.
Closing Thoughts I think that the Live CD and DVD are an essential piece to any DecembeRadio fan’s collection. The fun and excitement of this release only partially culminate the experience of really being at a show. This DVD is truly the next best thing to being there yourself. The only down sight to this release is the fact that if you want both the CD and the DVD, you must buy them separate. However, the cool thing is that you can go and buy yourself a copy of the CD signed, on sale now at MusiChristian.com.
