Main Review MOBILE, Alabama -- Integrity Music announces the April 13 release of Unshakable, the follow-up to the critically-acclaimed self-titled debut from Deluge, the Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based band composed of Jonathan Stockstill (vocals, piano/keys, acoustic guitar), Andrae Harrison (drums), Corey Bastin (bass), Keith Gassette, (electric guitar), Nathan Munsell (electric guitar), Joe Causey (electric guitar), Adam Lester (electric guitar), and Brent Milligan (electric guitar). According to Stockstill, the songs are an outpouring of the joy, anger, pain and hope that his family and church experienced over the past two years.
The album’s title track “Unshakable” is a song that opens with a very tight guitar-driven riff. The title pretty much says it all with this song. We as Christians must remain unshakable. No matter what the world throws at us we have to be unshakable.
Another song on the album is “Refuge”. This is probably my favorite song on this album. Refuge…wow, just think about that one word for a minute. The definition of refuge is shelter or protection from danger, trouble etc. Anything to which one has recourse for aid, relief or escape. Now apply all of that from a Christian perspective. Psalm 46:1 says…God is our REFUGE and strength, a very present help in time of trouble. Another passage of scripture is Psalm 62:7 and it says…In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my REFUGE, is in God. These are powerful scriptures of great truth. Far too often we try to hide within ourselves, we try to be our own refuge. We look to money or our earthly possessions as our hiding place. Psalm 142:4 explores this saying...I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: REFUGE failed me; no man cared for my soul. The truth is that God is our ONLY refuge. No matter what you’re going through, what the circumstances are or how little or big you think the problem is GOD IS OUR REFUGE.
This album is full of great new worship songs. The members of the band have really prayed and done what they feel it was that God told them to do. Through personal triumph and tragedy the one constant was their love, faith and trust in God during this and every period of their lives.
The one recurring theme throughout this album is God’s everlasting love for us. The fact that he paid the ultimate price by dying on the cross for OUR sins so that we may have eternal life in and through Him. God is our refuge, our hiding place. The one whom we can talk to, ask for help, get the advise we are in need of. He is all we need. All the answers rest in Him. Our salvation is free. The price has already been paid. All we have to do is ask for it. Quit trying to think we can do it ourselves. It’s time we so called Christians start a revolution. Take a stand and preach the word of God to everyone we meet. I believe we are in the end days and yet there are so many people that are unsaved either because they don’t see any difference between themselves and the Christian or because they have never heard God’s name be spoken before. Either way it is our responsibility to win souls for His kingdom. What will YOU do? What will YOU do to make every day matter for the Kingdom? These are some of the things that God has spoken to me about through this album. I hope that you listen to this album with open ears and that you are susceptible to God’s word as He speaks to you.
Closing Thoughts Well…a lot was said in the review itself. This is a POWERFUL album. God is ever-present from beginning to end. I pray that God continue to use this band for His work. That they continue to listen and respond according to what He has for them. They are truly talented and are reaching out to His people in everything they do. Whether it’s in front of their 10,000+ member church, 7,000+ member youth group or out on the road, they are there awaiting God’s direction. Go out and buy this album. Support this band and more importantly let God use you. He’s calling you. Be a part of His desire. Leave a mark on history.
