Main Review After many years of writing songs solo, worship leader Kristian Stanfill teams up with award winning songwriters Jason Ingram, Chris Tomlin and Reuben Morgan for his new year release of Mountains Move. And what a great way (and album) to start the New Year!
"O great God there's nothing You can't do, O great God You speak and mountains move, We believe, we believe...with You ALL THINGS are possible." – “You Will Reign”
Stanfill easily captures the hearts of his listeners with his deep, heart-felt lyrics. Connecting with his listeners on many levels; he presents himself not only as a musician or a worship leader but rather a child of God who wants only to serve the Lord with all he is. A Faithful servant. This message rings loud and clear in his song “My Reward”. "I give my life again every breath I have / You are my reward / Jesus take my life a sacrifice / All I have is Yours / You are my reward all I'm living for / I surrender all my life to you my Lord / I'm giving my life to follow You my King, my King / You are my desire." To say that Christ is our desire is deep. What an amazing relationship one must have with the Creator of the universe!
Moving, encouraging and soft are his vocals. Having fallen in love with his rendition of old time hymn, “Jesus Paid It All”, I have taken a rather keen liking to this new worship album.
I love the chorus to “Like a Lion” as well, especially… "My God's not dead / He's surely alive / He's living on the inside roaring like a lion / Let heaven roar and fire fall come shake the ground with the sound of revival." Revival. What does revival even mean anymore? It's something that we, as Christians should be praying for in our own lives, our homes, our churches, for America...better yet...the world!
“Always” was the one song that really hit home for me. Having gone through recent trials, I found myself repeating this song over and over again."I will not fear the war / I will not fear the storm / My help is on the way / my help is on the way / O my God He will not delay my refuge and strength always I will not fear / His promise is true my God will come through always, always." I pray that I will remember these lyrics for the many more trials I'm sure to face in my short lifetime. Thank God for those times!
Closing Thoughts I think that this new-comer will have a very promising year. I wouldn't doubt we see him at some of the bigger Christian events that are sure to come. If you like Chris Tomlin, Jeff Johnson, Charlie Hall, Phil Wickham or Rush of Fools, you should definitely check this guy out.
