To any Kutless fan -- This is definitely a good addition to your collection. For those of you who are new to the group, this is also a good one to pick up, considering it's basically a 'Best Of' live CD, spanning their entire five year existence.

There is one kind of album that I really like and look forward to with artists, and that's the
release of a live album. You know what's even better then just the live album? A live DVD
thrown in at seemingly no extra cost. That's what you get with Kutless' first live project,
Live from Portland. Recorded in their hometown of Portland, OR on March 16, 2006, the
group gave their hometown crowd a taste of the album Hearts of the Innocent which would
come out the following week.
The album contains all of Kutless hits, including "Strong Tower", "Sea of Faces", "Run",
"Your Touch" and one of my personal favorites, "Let You In".
I especially enjoyed the moments in between songs in which lead singer, Jon Micah
Sumrall would preach to the crowd and kind of bring out messages within the catalog of
Kutless songs. I think overall, the message of Kutless songs are very evident if not blunt,
see "Hearts of the Innocent" and "Shut Me Out".
Having seen Kutless in concert three times, I have to say if you haven't seen them live,
then your missing out. Not only do they put on one of the most impressive stage shows,
but they are probably the loudest group I have heard live (with Skillet in a very close
second).
Kutless live shows are very tight-knit with one song often fading right into the next song.
The group doesn't stray far from their original studio sound and sounds almost cloned
from the album. There is really no big differences between the live material and that of the
album. Just the thrill of being there I guess is the best part. I caught them at Cornerstone
FL in May 2006, a few weeks after the recording of this show. They are impressive.
