I would highly recommend this album to people of all ages. It has appeal enough to breach the spectrum of any musical taste. It truly is a worship album, that I wouldn't be surprised if I heard congregations singing along with on Sunday mornings but hard hitting enough to reach a younger audience...especially fans of Coldplay. For those MySpace fans out there, you can check them out at www.myspace.com/leelandmusic.

Leeland, titled for their 17 year old front man Leeland Mooring has brought something truly
beautiful with their debut album Sound of Melodies. Leeland also includes brother Jack
Mooring, a youth pastor (keyboards); cousin Jake Holtz (bass); and friends Jeremiah Wood
(lead guitar) and Mike Smith (percussion). Leeland Mooring was first signed at the young
age of 15 with Provident music after music he wrote with Marc Byrd (God of Wonders) was
reviewed by the label. With such a young start Leeland has a promising future. Sound of
Melodies if full of depth, honesty, worship and a call to go deeper and to become more
through our relationship with God.
Right off the album starts with the title track "Sound Of Melodies", this is my personal
favorite on the record. When I heard this song I immediately wanted to post it on my
myspace as my anthem, with lyrics such as “we have caught a revelation, that nothing can
separate us from, the love we received through salvation, it fills your daughters and sons”.
It resonates worship and a heart of adoration for God with a progressive rock beat to back
it up, there is no way you won’t fall in love with title track of this album.
"Yes You Have" is another song that rang true for me as I listened to Leeland. It just goes
with the theme of the album which seems to be worship and adoration of God. This is a
song of freedom up to God. It resounds with lyrics praising God for washing our stains,
breaking our chains and setting us free. I am amazed at the depth of songwriting that
emerges out of Leeland for the bands young age.
"Tears Of The Saints" is another song that really stands out on the album. It’s a call out to
the church to step up. It reminds us of what our duty is as the saints of God, to help bring
the prodigals home. We cant just live our overly blessed lives in ignorance of the dying
world around us. This song is a gentle yet powerful reminder what we need to do with the
love that God has bestowed upon us, we need to reach out with it.
