[ Writer's Closing Thoughts ]
I know I kind of get stuck on one song, but hey, when I get
going on a message I just can’t stop.  I have felt the Holy
Spirit calling me to preach, and I just want to get the point
out there.  Although the message is not as obvious, I
could still hear what the group was trying to tell me.

Slightly above average throwing a little bit of every
rock/worship style in the mix, Sevenglory delivers on what
I would call an artist aspiring to show a lost and dying
world that there’s still hope.  All in all, this album is
definitely worth going out and picking up and I thoroughly
enjoyed its message, music and the vibe that I got while
listening to it.
At first glance, the Indiana-based pop/rock group Sevenglory may appear to be just about
the same as a lot of the other groups of similar sound found in today’s Christian music
market.  However, one difference I noticed (and am most attracted to) is the lyrics and
message of the album.  I had never heard Sevenglory prior to this review, but when I
started hearing “Just Me” on the radio, I decided to take a closer look.  I had originally
given this review to another member (now former) of our writing team, but due to his
departure, I took over the reigns on this one.  We get so many albums in for review, that I
barely get to really delve into a project I am not writing on, but Atmosphere is one of those
albums I wish I would have heard sooner.  Maybe this is the Lord telling me, “whether you
are writing the review or not, listen!”  So I did.

The guitar intro of the first track, “All You Want” really gets you into the mood from the
diverse mix of music that will come throughout the next 35 minutes.  The message behind
the song focuses on what the Lord wants from us, and that’s our all.  Great concept that
really gets you thinking about our own lives as believers.  Are we giving our all to God?
The second track, “All of This for You”, was co-penned by the band along with All-Star
United’s front-man and producer, Ian Eskelin.  “This song continues the theme of “All You
Want” and really sets the tone for Atmosphere”.  The central message of the song focuses
on making our Creator known to everyone even though at times we think that we ourselves
have a hard time figuring out where we fit in in God’s plan.  I can assure you each and
every one of us were created with an intent purpose to God.  We find out what that is
along life’s road sooner or later.

Something I have noticed with many of today’s albums are, the less-known non-radio
songs are the ones that really speak or minister, and are often overlooked.  Not so with the
band’s debut single from the album, “Just Me”.  The song really got me thinking about my
own witness for Christ.  We are the body, we are the hands and feet, are we truly reaching
out to the lost?  The chorus asks the question, “Are you anything like me?  Is it possible all
anybody needs is a little more love? And be the hands and feet / Would it make the world
believe?”  The song was co-written by 2008 Dove Award winner of the New Artist of the
Year, Brandon Heath and ends with the question again and it’s hopeful answer, “Would it
make the world believe?  I hope so”.

The next song and second radio single of the album, “Let It Be Love” almost continues the
love-focus theme of “Just Me”.  Without love, we have nothing.  God’s love however is not
just for the believer (see John 3:16, notice the word ‘loved the world – meaning all’), it was
intended for all of us, even those who don’t believe.  We should be letting people know
that God loves them no matter what.  I really liked the music track on this song as well, very
catchy.  I thought it fit well with the message and carrying it throughout.

“The Best is Yet to Come” is an answer to a question a lot of us may ask God daily.  Are
things going to change Lord?  What do we have to look forward to?  Vocalist Fred Butson
shows off his talent with very simple but powerful falsetto vocals throughout the song.  “I
wrote this song during a time of uncertainty in my life.  But looking back, I see where God,
as always, came through in His perfect timing, reminding me that the best is yet to come”.
He says.  It’s a reminder that although the times are perilous, we do have something to
look forward to on the other side.

“Show Me the Light” is one song that stuck out to me for its message perhaps more then
any other track on the album.  It really hit home for me, because I often think that my faith
shines bright enough for people I know, lost people, to get saved.  But one thing I realize
time and time again is, I cannot save anyone.  I can pray that my testimony and my attitude
and the way I conduct myself will reflect that of my Savior.  Because you know what?  We
are to shine our light before men (Matthew 5:16), so that people see our Father and His
good works, but we’re only the light bulb.  The light truly comes from the inside, the spirit
within us.  The chorus speaks the truth when it says, “Cause there’s a world that’s losing
faith / Looking for a way / Show me the light.”  We need to be the light that reflects Christ
to show the world once and for all that the Light is the source of our everything, our
livelihoods and most importantly, our eternity.
