Third Day has probably had the most impact on me personally of any artist I have reviewed.  When I gave my life to Christ
in June 2003, the first artist that really ministered to me with their music was Third Day.  They had a rock-style of music
that really hooked me, but it was the message of their music that really impressed me.  I remember the first Third Day song
I heard was a the live version of “Consuming Fire” from the original Offerings CD, and after that, I was hooked.  The
band, could easily be considered one of Christian music’s most successful and most well-known bands out there.  And it
comes by good reason.  Every time the band releases a new album or project, I get excited and so do the fans.  So when I
got my copy of Third Day’s newest release, Christmas Offerings Live on DVD I was ready to get ready for the upcoming
Christmas season.

I was actually quite impressed with the Christmas Offerings CD, even though I have to be honest, I really didn’t think I
would.  I mean, I loved Offerings I & II, but a Christmas Offerings?  Would it sound much like the other Christmas CD’s
floating around out there?

Let me just take a moment and explain why Christmas music isn’t my favorite.  Don’t get me wrong, Christmas is my
favorite time of the year.  Not because of presents.  Well, presents are nice, but more importantly it’s a time of year that I
get to spend with family.  Witness to those family members who don’t celebrate Christmas for what it truly stands for and
of course lots of egg nog.

No, the real reason is that most Christmas music is categorized as to what I refer to as ‘Mas’ music.  A lot of the so-called
traditional Christmas songs don’t even mention or even have anything to do with Christ.  I guess that’s why I’m so cynical
about the [holding my parenthesis fingers up], “Christmas music”.  I mean what is Christmas without Christ?  It’s like the
world has been desensitized as to what Christmas is and should be celebrated for.  No, the celebration of what we now call
Christmas is not mentioned in the Bible, but what we should remember is, if we choose to celebrate it, we have to take on
the responsibility as Christians to show the world that Christmas is about God’s love to us (John 3:16) and the child that
was born those 2,000 years ago who would grow to someday be a Savior, who would sacrifice His own life so that we
could ever be reconciled with the Lord God Almighty for all who believe in His life, His Death and most importantly, His
resurrection.

Having said that, Third Day releases a project worthy of attention.  I really enjoyed the song selection on this one and the
band at times even takes the time to explain the heart and meaning behind some of it’s original Christmas tunes.  “O Come
All Ye Faithful” & “Do You Hear What I Hear?” are early highlights of this live DVD as well as a blue-grass feeling version
of “Born In Bethlehem”.  “What Child Is This?” and the original TD song, “Christmas Like A Child” would probably be my
two favorite tracks on this release.  “Angels We Have Heard On High” was another I was impressed with.  I especially like
the southern-style arrangement that the band molded into it.

This DVD doesn’t include just Christmas hits, but some of band’s other hits that could easily fit into the Christmas theme
concert.  Some of those include, “King of Glory”, “Show My Your Glory”, “Your Love Oh Lord” and the Rich Mullins-
penned, “Creed”.

Anyone who enjoyed the Christmas Offerings CD will definitely enjoy this one.  I think this is also a DVD that can be
enjoyed in a living room packed with family on a cool December evening this year and years to come.  I am impressed.
