It's amazing how much of an influence Third Day has had in its nearly two decade
ministry/career.  Dove Award winner.  Grammy winner.  You name it, this band has
done it.  Last year saw the release of the highly anticipated  release,
Revelation.  The
album was fantastic.  April 7, 2009 brings the release of
Live Revelations.  It's your
typical live album, but unlike others before it, this one offers a little more to the Gomer
(that's a Third Day fan for all of you who are unfamiliar).

In addition to the 9-track live CD, which features 7 songs from
Revelation along with a
live version of "Cry Out to Jesus" and a live cover of the U2/BB King hit, "When Love
Comes To Town", the release includes a DVD.  What's on the DVD you ask?  Well in
addition to the Music Videos & Outtakes, there is something that I found very cool to
watch.  For the first time, fans get to go behind the scenes and see everything that
happens on tour and even goes as far as following the guys home, in a 75-minute
documentary allowing the fans to see a rare glimpse of Mac, Mark, David and Tai at
home with their wives and children.

While it was definitely entertaining to sit down and watch, I wasn't as impressed with the
audio portion.  If there is a time where Third Day's sound suffers with the hole left by
former guitarist Brad Avery's departure, then this album is a perfect example.  I thought
maybe I was just being too critical of the live CD, but after asking a friend of mine who
is probably one of Third Day's biggest fans, we both came to the same conclusion.  Brad
Avery's missing presence is definitely obvious and I think it takes away from their live
sound, which is a major bummer.

Is the music bad?  No, it's pretty decent.  But I thought that
Live Wire and the Offerings
Live
tracks offered more of a glimpse of reality of what a true Third Day concert
experience is about.

Closing Thoughts:
Bottom line, I enjoyed Live Revelations.  I think the album is worth buying just for the
DVD that comes with it.  I think overall, Third Day fans will be impressed with this
release and enjoy seeing what a 'day-in-the-life-of-Third-Day' is like.
