“The name This Beautiful Republic signifies a kingdom of faith and love,” explains lead
vocalist Ben Olin. “And we chose our album’s title to emphasize the common ground that
all humans share. No matter who you are or what you do, the need for a savior is vital. So
we hope, beyond anything else, to show people this savior, Christ, and to give listeners a
brush with eternity.” This quote is taken from This Beautiful Republic’s front man Ben Olin.

Composed of five guys with a common heart This Beautiful Republic busts through with
there upcoming album ‘Even Heroes Need a Parachute”. Featuring as mentioned before
Ben Olin on vocals, brothers Adam Smith and Andy Smith on guitar and drums, Brandon
Paxton on Bass and Jeremy Kunkle on guitar.

This album has a strong Christian message form the first chords played, the first song on
the album ‘Casting off”, has a beautiful and relevant message to listeners, with lyrics that
speak to the heart.

"I saw you under the stars/And I caught you wanting them all/Desire can change who you
are/You’re so much better off /When nothing weighs you down”

Those lyrics are taken directly form the chorus. They are catchy and heartfelt, I found
myself humming them though out the day.

When asked about this song TBR had this to say “This song is from God’s perspective. It’s
about letting go of the things that hold us down, things we return to time after time despite
their complete emptiness. It speaks of looking back at those vices longingly, reminding the
listener that such allure is deceitful, ultimately costing us everything in the end. God wants
to take our burdens, heal us, and help us move on without them.”

The third song on ‘Even Heroes Need a Parachute’, is entitled ‘Jesus to the World’. This is
a song with a great message to the Christian community. Sharing a common goal of what it
means to be Christ to the masses.

“Sometimes it’s hard to see You, But I see Your people/Sometimes it’s hard to hear You,
But I heard Your preachers/My proof is in the way, the way that they shine/That’s how I
know that//Chorus//The sun is coming down/I get the feeling that I’m not home yet/Yeah
it’s Your people/They’re Jesus to the world”

When asked about this song TBR had this to say:
“This song is about the body of Christ, how it operates and should encourage as well as
support itself. Sometimes we lose sight of what we believe and need someone who
believes similarly to remind us of the validity of our belief. We find that validity in the way
we act everyday and how we love each other. But we’re also not home just yet; we have to
stay strong until we get there.”

And finally the last song that really stood out to me on this album was a song entitled ‘Right
Now’. Its voice resonates the healing power of Christ love to our lives. How all he wants
more than anything is just us, to pick us up and bring us back.

“You want a change/It’s written on your face/You feel alone/A little out of place/You hide
away/The scars and the mistakes/You’ve been tired, uninspired/Something’s gonna
give//Chorus//Right now He knows who you are/The light and the dark /He picks up your
broken heart/Right now He’s telling the truth/That you will make it through/His Love can
rescue you/Right now”

Written beautifully both lyrically and musically, I gave this album four points for the
message, I felt it was clear and positive. I gave a two out of three for the music, it was
developed to a point but could maybe make some changes to set itself apart. For
production quality I gave them a two out of two, the sound quality was great. And finally for
creativity I gave them a one out of one. Though there seemed to be some areas on the
album that could be seen as cliché to Christian music there angle was unique and
appreciated.
So all together I give TBR ‘Even Heroes Need a Parachute” a 90%.
