Main Review Thousand Foot Krutch (TFK) is one of Christian music’s most solid rockers. Now, after releasing six projects, and selling over 750,000 copies, Thousand Foot Krutch releases LIVE at the Masquerade, a 13-track live album recorded in Edmonton, Canada along with 20,000 participants. Featuring several familiar rock anthems from Welcome to the Masquerade, as well as others from Set It Off, Phenomenon, The Art of Breaking, and The Flame In All of Us, the LIVE at the Masquerade CD/DVD is a must-have for TFK fans, and those who enjoy live rock experiences.
Aptly, “Welcome to the Masquerade” gets the energy moving, as TFK comes on stage and gets the crowd roaring along in excitement. “Bring Me to Life,” also from TFK’s latest studio project Welcome to the Masquerade, follows, showcasing TFK’s energetic live shows. Trevor McNevan’s voice sounded incredible in these songs as he jumped around on stage and had fans partaking in the rock show.
“Move” and “Absolute” take listeners back to The Art of Breaking days, after which Trevor delivers a two-minute message about making a difference with those we come in contact with. Although starting slower, the lively “E For Extinction,” follows, exploding into a grunge rock with awesome effects that overpowered the blaring music. In “Scream” we hear extreme fan participation, as well as echoing from the powering rock that TFK has to offer. Also, the piano instrumental halfway through the track sounded awesome.
Things slow down with the radio hit, “What Do We Know?” Hearing fans echo along with the familiar and somewhat repetitious lyrics of this single was awesome, but the music again explodes with “Falls Apart,” from The Flame In All of Us project that originally introduced me to TFK. “Rawkfist” has fans throwing up their fists along with the highly energetic, almost rap-like lyrics, while “Fire It Up,” my favorite from LIVE At the Masquerade, sounded remarkably better than the original.
The 20,000 fans at the recording of TFK’s live album go crazy to the string intro of “Already Home,” a slower, and more solemn TFK track. Finally, “Puppet,” the only live track from Set It Off, ends the live project, beginning with futuristic music. Fans go crazy when Trevor yells out “C’mon and get the first party started!!” This awesome track put a great ending to TFK’ s first live project, LIVE At the Masquerade.
Closing Thoughts Thousand Foot Krutch is an awesome rock band, and this live project showcases their absolute best songs performed live. LIVE At the Masquerade is a must-have CD/DVD for Christian rock fans, as well as those who can’t get enough of the live experience. You can’t help but turn up the speakers and enjoy the live feel this project has to offer.
