Review written by: Jay Heilman [jay.heilman@christianmusicreview.org]
If you haven’t gotten the opportunity to listen to Travis Cottrell’s work on his most recent album, Found, you’re missing a
blessing.  If you are a fan of ‘big vocal’ or opera-style music such as David Phelps, Michael English and Clay Crosse I
think you will enjoy this one.  While the ‘big vocal’ artists as I call it, wouldn’t be categorized as my favorite style, I think
they still bring a presence of their own and have amazed me with their true and God-given talent.

Travis Cottrell, who may be best known for his work with Beth Moore Ministries, proves with his new Christmas album,
Ring the Bells, that he can stand out from the pack.  His voice is unlike any other I have heard in a while, and it was actually
nice to hear something a little different.

The album’s highlights in my opinion would first off have to be the title track, “Ring the Bells”, which features a duet with
fellow-CCM artist, Natalie Grant.  Other tracks that I enjoyed would be my personal favorite Christmas song, “What Child
Is This?”.  I think it’s kind of hard for someone to mess that one up.  It’s such an amazingly powerful and uplifting song,
reminding us that a Savior came to us first as a child.  A child that would grow up to take the burdens of our sins upon
Himself so that we may have life eternal.  I especially liked the added touch of the mandolin at the beginning.

The album as a whole is pretty impressive.  I enjoyed it and think that although it may be a little different compared to all the
pop-rock stuff you hear on Christian radio, it shows true talent in a light less known to music fans.  Want to try something
different this Christmas?  Listen to Travis Cottrell’s new Christmas album, Ring the Bells.  I think you might enjoy it.

One other thing I might add is something that Travis Cottrell is doing with his ministry.  It’s called Operation Freedom Bell.
You can purchase a Freedom Bell for $10 and in turn a Bible will be shipped overseas to a soldier who could use it to find
the true meaning of Christmas and bring hope to them even in the most hostile of enemy environments.  For more
